Interview

First of all, thank you for giving me the opportunity to be interviewed for this position today.
My name is Santiago Agustín Plaza and I'm 22 years old. I'm currently persuing Mechatronic Engineering career. I studied Software Engineering but I changed the career for personal reasons. Throughout my career, I’ve noticed that I’ve always been good with numbers and handling data.
In parallel, I am doing a DevOps training course and a Project Management certification with Agile Methodologies and Lean approaches with emphasis on Scrum and Kanban.
I also studied a technical degree in PC Hardware and Computer Networks. I am additionally taking an IT support course at LinkedIn Learning.
I am constantly updating myself on new software and hardware developments and I have experience in the maintenance and upgrade of computer equipment.

Previously, I worked as a system administrator in a cyber cafe and I gained experience in customer service.
I am loyal, hard-working, responsable and conscientious. Over the years, I have gained considerable skills, qualities, and experience that I believe are a strong match for this position.
Moving forward, I hope to expand my experience across IT industry, which is why I’m interested in your company.

My strengths are persistence and discipline. I give my all to archive my goals in spite and hardship I might encounter along the way. I have a hardworking nature. I'm always looking for ways to improve and grow. I'm also a great team player. I'm willing to do whatever it takes for the team success.

"I focus too much on detail during projects or tasks.”
I am a detail-orientated person, but when a project has a tight deadline, this is not always helpful. I am trying to be more mindful in situations like these and I am learning to focus more on the end goal of the project or task I am responsible for.
“I am not very good at presenting to large groups of people.”
My weakness is my fear of public speaking. I would genuinely love to have the confidence to stand up in front of a group of people and give a talk. However, I am trying to improve in this area and I recently participated in a meeting with some people.

When I am in a stressful situation, I often stop to take a step back and allow myself some time to think, plan and prioritise. I break the big tasks up into separate individual activities, working out which take the longest, which I can complete quite quickly, and which have the nearest deadlines. It then becomes more manageable and far less stressful.

I usually play soccer with my friends, sometimes we also play volleyball. In general, I like to be involved in team sports. It's funny as well as comforting.
I like to read some novels before I go to sleep, it's a habit I acquired recently. I try to read in English, because I want to improve my reading skills.
On weekends I try to make progress with my learning in programming. I am learning the Golang language, it is a new challenge and I think it will be useful in the future.
Lastly, I have been taking care of a kitten I found in the street. He is healthy and since I live alone and he is my first pet, I am trying to take care of him properly.

I heard from Emiliano Lund, a fiend and a DXC's employee, that you was looking for new employees for different positions. He encouraged me to apply, saying that my knowledge and skills would be helpful for the company. I’ve heard a lot about DXC from Emiliano, and I’m a big fan of the way you do things there. I’ve always wanted to work for a company with a flat organizational structure and culture.

I can see that your company has much future growth potential. I would love to grow my career at a company, that has a great reputation in the IT industry, like yours.

After doing some brief research on you, I ended up falling in love with your values and your mission. Be an IT services company using the power of technology to build better futures for customers, colleagues, environment and communities. In that moment I knew that I wanted to work with you.

I have just the right skill-set to excel in this role. While I haven’t previously worked in an IT company, I pretty much fit the bill for the role.

I made a complicated inventory program in a exam for a programming signature. It was released for a local shops community and helped them save time and money. I'm proud for it.

I’m particularly motivated by problem-solving, working in IT there are always unexpected errors and challenges that you’ll run into, I enjoy working to find out what the issues are and finding solutions to these errors. Running into errors is also a great way to learn new skills and more efficient methods of carrying out tasks.

The salary that I think is right for me is between 50k and 60 k. I feel that I can bring significant value to your team and with my hard working personality, I am confident that I would excel in every challenge I am faced with.
